1999 (U9) House League 2008
Let me start off by welcoming you or welcoming you back to the Cumberland United Soccer Club (CUSC). We appreciate that you have chosen our club and our objective is to provide your child with an enjoyable soccer experience. To this end CUSC will run two divisions for the U9 (born in 1999) age group for boys and girls house league players. The basic principle behind this structure is player development – to provide all the young athletes with an opportunity to develop in an environment where they’re most comfortable and most likely to have fun. We will also enter one Cobra team for boys and one Cobra team for girls in the ERSL.
The Cobra teams will play on Thursday nights and will practice twice a week. As the teams will be playing against other clubs, games will take place outside the Cumberland/Orleans area, but typically will be on the east end of Ottawa. There will be an ERSL registration cost of approximately $90/player. There will be two practice sessions per week (days to be determined). One weekly practice session (10 in all) will be run by a professional coach who will work with the players and coaches to enhance their playing and coaching skills respectively. The additional cost for this will be approximately $105/player. The second practice will be run by the team's coach. In addition, the Cobra teams may enter local tournaments (costs will vary) to create further development opportunities. Thus the total cost for a player on a Cobra team will be approximately $300-$400 (includes a year end team party and 2 tournaments). Please note that players who play on the ERSL team will not play on a team in the House League divisions.
The two divisions in house
league will be called “Blue” and “Gold”, and the players will be placed in the
divisions based on the evaluation of their skills. The rationale behind
splitting the players into two groups is that players
develop better when they play and practice with
players of similar abilities. Athletes in
the "Blue" division will have one game (Sunday evening) and two practice
sessions per week (days to be determined). One weekly practice session (10 in
all) will be run by a professional coach who will work with the players and
coaches to enhance their playing and coaching skills respectively. The
additional cost for this will be approximately $105/player. The second practice
will be run by the team's coach. In addition, teams in the "Blue" division may
enter local recreational tournaments (costs will vary) to create further
development opportunities.
For those playing in the "Gold" division, there will be one game (Sunday
evening) and one weekday practice (day to be determined) run by the team coach.
Although the GOLD division does not have mandatory team session with
professional coaching, we will offer a voluntary program for approximately $105
for those players interested in further development. The registration
forms for this can be found at
www.parmarsportstraining.com .
This format will better prepare our players to compete at the competitive
(Cobra) level. Through feedback from parents and monitoring of players, we have
found the players develop better when they play and practice with players of
similar abilities. As always, we will
attempt to accommodate requests for bilingual coaches or playing with friends
where possible, while respecting our 2 division structure.
There will be an evaluation session scheduled as follows: See RECENT NEWS on
website. It is strongly recommended that all players attend the evaluation
sessions so we can determine their current skill level which will help in
balancing all teams in both divisions.
All players are requested to come to evaluations, as these sessions will be used
to balance the teams in both divisions. As there are additional time, travel,
and cost commitments, participation in the BLUE program or on the ERSL team is
voluntary. If you wish your child not to play in either or both of these
programs, please inform the evaluators at the evaluation session or forward an
e-mail to the undersigned.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, suggestions or comments, please
contact the Mini Director by email to:

everyone's feedback is appreciated.
The SUPERDOME is located on Bearbrook Road in the east end of Ottawa. To access
it, follow Highway 174 to Montreal Road/ St Joseph Road exit. Take St Joseph
Road east about 1 km and then south on Bearbrook for approximately two km, the
